Do you communicate your desires and interests to women in a cautious, ‘beat-around-the-bush’ manner?

Do you frequently attempt to hide, deny, or camouflage your true desires and interests from women? Do you harbor a lot of bitterness, misogyny, and resentment toward women?

In Mode One: Let the Women Know What You’re Really Thinking, author and professional dating coach Alan Roger Currie describes and examines what he refers to as the “Four Modes of Verbal Communication”.

Currie believes that many heterosexual men are socialized to present themselves to women as “polite gentlemen” or “flattering, entertaining nice guys”, and consequently, Currie argues that this type of ineffective social programming causes men’s behavior and conversations to be perceived by women as boring, predictable, and weak.

Currie makes the strong argument that the most effective interpersonal communication style that a man can exhibit with a woman is “Mode One” behavior, which represents when a man expresses his romantic and/or sexual desires and interests to women in a manner that is bold, upfront, unapologetic, specific, and straightforwardly honest.

Currie also criticizes the idea of men maintaining disingenuous platonic friendships with women (What Currie refers to as “FunClubbin”) and Currie also points out that both men and women can be very duplicitous, disingenuous, misleading, and manipulative when interacting with members of the opposite sex. Currie introduces the terms “Pretenders” and “Timewasters”.
